Suspension of All Education Activities
The strike action organized by the Consortium of teacher's and lawyer's trade unions in the North West and South West Regions to address concerns relating to the educational and legal culture and identity of the Regions has degenerated into violent confrontations. The negotiations between the various the Government team and the leaders of the Consortium have failed and the brutal crackdown by law enforcement has lead to increasing violence.
As a result of the increasing violence and attacks on teachers, kidnapping of students and staff in some institutions, destruction of education infrastructure, and the killing of students including one of our students, the management of St Isidore High School in consultation with the Board of the Labang Education Foundation has suspended all educational activities until further notice.
Project on the school site and construction work on the new building will continue when possible.
We pray that the crisis will be resolved as soon as possible so that the students will get the opportunity to return to school again. We hope that peace will return and the community will once again regain its vitality.
